Hunting Influencer Ryan Lampers Faces Criminal Charges in Idaho
Ryan Lampers, a 51-year-old hunting influencer known online as StHealthy Hunter, has been hit with a criminal complaint in Idaho alleging multiple wildlife violations from the 2024 hunting season. The Lemhi County Prosecutor’s Office filed an eight-count complaint alleging grand theft, unlawful possession and related misdemeanors.
According to court documents obtained by GearJunkie, Lampers is accused of unlawfully harvesting and reporting a mule deer, mountain lion, and wolf—all with false location details. On December 1, 2024, he allegedly shot a mule deer buck in Big Game Management Unit 21 during a closed season, without a valid tag. The animal was a trophy-class buck, scoring 175 4⁄9 inches under Boone and Crockett standards.
Further charges relate to incorrect reporting of a mountain lion and a wolf. Lampers reportedly killed both in Unit 21 but submitted Big Game Mortality Reports claiming they were taken in Unit 28—where he held valid tags—then sought reimbursement from the Foundation for Wildlife Management (F4WM). He allegedly received $2,000—$1,250 more than allowed for the actual unit.
The specific counts in the complaint include:
Grand Theft by Deception (Felony) – for receiving the improper $2,000 reimbursement for a wolf.
Unlawful Possession of Mule Deer Buck (Felony) – for possessing a trophy-class buck taken illegally.
Taking Trophy Big Game During Closed Season (Misdemeanor)
Hunting Without Valid Tag (Misdemeanor) – two counts, one for the mule deer, another for the mountain lion.
Possession/Transportation of Game Taken Unlawfully (Misdemeanor) – for the mountain lion.
Falsifying Public Records (Misdemeanor) – two counts, one each for the mountain lion and wolf mortality reports.
The complaint, filed August 29 and entered into court on September 2, 2025, requests a book-and-release bench warrant to bring Lampers before the court. Penalties, if convicted, could include prison, fines, restitution, and suspension or revocation of hunting privileges.
